The Daily Utah Progressive has been, ehhh, not so daily. This is due to the fact that in this down economy my workplace has had to lay off almost half our workforce, and therefore, in the process, giving me a lot more to do. I can’t complain though, I am one of the blessed few of us who has not been affected too much by this economy. However, when you see people you have worked with for years, get laid off, it not only affects them and their families but their co workers as well. I have seen some good employees lose their job for not doing a single thing wrong. That shakes me to my core.
Obama has no doubt inherited HUGE deficits and it’s important to realize that the man hasnt even been in office a full year yet. Also, this is not something of Obamas making. It is incredible that the man has started to even tackle health care this soon anyways, we should be proud of the progress we have made so far. We cannot be satisfied however, until his promises have been kept. For the most part the Obama Administration has started to take the right steps to fullfill most of the promises. He has however, neglected the LGBT community, rehashed on the torture probe along with I’m sure a bunch of other groups and causes. For most Obama fans, this is your first time participating in politics at such a high level; The first time you actually watched the debates and read the articles. So naturally, this is our first time actually seeing someone who WE helped put in office, And by “we” I mean the young people of America. So sit back and enjoy the political process, see how special intrests in Washington affect every single politician in that town, it is impossible to avoid them. Thats the nature of the beast. What’s important is that you now are involved and are seeing how the system works so slowly but surely we can pass this along to future generations and really make the change happen, take down the system.
